In the medical massage course, students learn background information on an individual pathology such as common causes and common symptoms, assessment skills to help determine what structures and/or soft tissue are involved, and a variety of treatment modalities to address the issue. Every class includes hands-on practice time to give and receive the technique, developing valuable kinesthetic learning tools. During the practice time, the instructor observes participants and is available to provide assistance as needed.
Topics covered in the course include, but are not limited to: sacrum/ilium relationships and low back pain, hyperkyphosis or upper crossed syndrome, scoliosis, whiplash, rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, sciatica, knee conditions, and ankle sprains.
